Help with gypsy heritage?

Ok I don't mean to wrongly say anything about gypsies so forgive me if I do I'm just trying to understand them. So I'm gypsy on my mothers side and I just want to know about how all the curses and magic works and some history about them. I'm really interested in them and I'm just trying to get a better understanding of them. Please help and again sorry if incorrectly said something about gypsies.
